Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 6th grade English at a new charter school dedicated to providing underserved students with a college preparatory education. Many of our students come from low-income homes and their only access to books comes from what teachers can provide in the classroom.
We have a limited budget at our school with which to purchase books for our students' independent reading. Adding these books to my classroom library will give my students a wider selection to choose from and will go a long way towards supporting and building their interest in reading.
I am asking for a variety of children and teen titles from Barnes and Noble in order to give my students the selection they need to meet their reading goals for the year. They have a goal of reading 25,000 pages of independent reading this year, and new books will help them meet that challenge!
