"Our school is located in south Louisiana and was one of the hardest hit areas from hurricanes Gustav and Ike. I teach in an inner city school where most of the students are at or near the poverty line. Since the downfall of the economy, and the expenses parents have incurred since the storms, there is very little money floating around our campus. We house students from Pre-K to sixth grade and have around 1,000 students.

I am part of the PBS {Positive Behavior Support} committee that has been mandated by the state. Each school however, must fund its own program. Tickets are given to each student that shows SOAR behavior. The obstacle we face is that we have exhausted what little funds we had.

In order to supply our store, we need the help of someone. Our students acting out behaviors because of their poor home life is affecting their education dramatically. We can’t do it alone. I beg you to seriously consider my proposal. Our Soar Store is a valuable asset to our school and we are seeing progress.

Last year, this proposal was generously funded. Our SOAR store was a remarkable success and hope to continue it this year. When I told students last year about where all these goodies came from, they couldn't believe that a stranger would care so much about them.
