Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Our basketball program is in need of basketballs and other essentials of running a program that the kids can be proud of. I am a Biology and Life Science teacher at a high-need school in Southern California. I also coach the boys' basketball team here and are in great need of any help that can be provided.

Our team has been working very hard for the upcoming season but the program has been hit hard by a budget crisis within the district. The athletics program as a whole was on the verge of being eradicated, thus student-athletes are being deprived of simple necessities of practice and game-day gear.

The team is in need of four indoor basketballs, a bag to tote them around in, a basketball court dry-erase board, and scorebooks. The student-athletes are going to have more ball skill development time during practice to improve individual abilities and be able to better understand what I am teaching them by seeing it visually on the play board.

You will make it possible for my student-athletes to add on-court success to their tireless work and accomplishments off the court in a school and neighborhood with a rarely-forgiving atmosphere.
