" MORE "I have the privilege of teaching bright eyed, enthusiastic Kindergarten students from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds.
Research in education shows that students who are physically active actually can regulate emotions, focus attention and do better in school! The obstacle for achieving daily physical activity is a lack of supplies. California has a standard where students are to receive a mandated number of minutes of P.E. each week and with supplies, we can meet this goal! The resources I am requesting: jump ropes, hoops, balance boards, balance beams, balls, jumping sacks and balancing games, will help us meet our state standards such as stretching, balancing, moving in space, and bouncing a ball. These activities will also get kids involved in many important ways: They will be physically active, working in small groups and pairs on a daily basis which will also help their cooperation in class. They will also derive the benefits of daily exercise: better mood regulation, increased attention, and motivation. This project will also serve the 5 other kindergarten classes at my school as we will be able to share the resources in a common area. Your participation will enable students to have the fullest potential for healthy, happy lives. Daily exercise gives benefits both in and out of the classroom and ensures that kids will learn habits they will carry with them throughout their lives. Thank you for considering this project. Your help means so much! My students need 8 physical activity resources, including 6 large hop along balls, a set of heavy duty hopping sacks, 2 sets of 6 jump ropes, 6 safe balance boards, 1 balance beam, 1 balancing balls game, 1 set of activity mats and 2 sets of hoops.
