Cramped and Cranky Computers

My students need two trapezoid tables.

I am a third grade teacher at a Title 1 public elementary school in Tennessee. Our school is a National Title I school and is recognized by the state and nation. My students come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds as well as from a wide range of socioeconomic situations. Our school does not have the funding to purchase new furniture and I desperately need two new tables for my cramped and cranky computers.

I currently have five extremely old computers that are crammed together on two rickety old tables. The tables are older than the computers and are falling apart! They are sagging in the middle; the legs are weak and shaky, and basically not safe. The monitors, keyboards, and mice are very cramped. The CPU units are sitting on the floor.

In 3rd grade, the students are required to do research projects. This is extremely hard to do because of our computer situation. My students love reading and taking the Accelerated Reader test on the computer, but the get so upset when another student looks at their answers and score. The trapezoid tables will give us more room to work in groups and provide my students the privacy they deserve to take an Accelerated Reader test.
