I teach every student in the school about clay, and they each get a chance to make something. It is a highlight for students.
This past year we learned about throwing pots on a potter's wheel. Student were very eager to try it themselves but since we do not have a potter's wheel they could only watch other people do it on a video. My students really want to go beyond hand building with clay and learn about throwing on a wheel first hand. A potter's wheel will allow students to authentically learn about this art form. They will also be able to understand better the important tradition of pottery in our state. With this year's budget deficit, the only way I can provide this learning opportunity for my students is through DonorsChoose.
