""Our hardworking military families need your help! My classroom is a diverse second grade classroom in California. These wonderful seven and eight year olds are all from military families. Many kids have a parent currently overseas (mostly in Iraq). As you can imagine, their lives are pretty stressful. Many are worried about a deployed mom or dad. Our school is primarily low income and has limited financial resources.

Our classroom/school has limited funds and very little technology. We do not have a computer lab and students have limited access to computers. We recently had two Apple Laptops funded through Donorschoose.org and you can imagine their popularity! We have 24 kids in a class so you can picture the juggling I am doing to try to give equal access to all students on just two computers. A third computer will really help.

This computer will be to allow individual students to use a variety of programs and web sites for learning. There are many math, science, and reading programs as well as interactive web sites that will help our students to learn. The students are also learning to type and learning computer basics. Many of these students do not use a computer at home and they will be thrilled to “play” on one at school. The students are so careful and proud when they get to use the computers. It makes them feel important and special.

You can make such a difference to our military kids and families. When I talk to our families their number one priority is that their kids are happy and successful in school while they are gone. Your donation of this computer will make a great difference in their lives.
