"I teach art in grades K-5 and my students are always eager to explore art and get creative. I am inspired by their love of learning and each year I work to create an even more exciting and interactive art studio environment for them. Our school is located in the heart of a culturally diverse neighborhood. Our students' families work incredibly hard to provide for their children and a large portion of the student population is economically disadvantaged.

I want my students to love learning and to become creative thinkers. Most of them have never had the chance to visit a museum or art gallery or visit another country to explore its cultural history and artistic traditions. My goal is to enhance their exposure to the world of art and to give them background knowledge of different cultures and countries so that they will gain a deeper appreciation for diversity and the arts. This deeper understanding of the arts will strengthen their abilities to make connections between other subject areas and they will gain new interests. In order for this to happen I need to set-up the art studio with an LCD projector so that I can take students on virtual tours to museums and places all over the world. The problem is there is not enough funding to purchase this technology for the art studio. More than 450 students would benefit from this equipment during their art classes each week.

Imagine the possibilities of being able to access just about any art museum from any part of the world and to be able to show these magical places to children. It would spark lively conversations, peek curiosity and create an environment of creativity and exploration. Students would be able to take their learning in art farther than ever before with this one small addition of an LCD projector.

Your help will make it possible for my students to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, The Louvre in Paris, The Prado Museum in Spain and so many more! You will be helping to inspire future generations of artists and inspired creative thinkers. With your help, my students will have the chance to experience the world of art despite their economic situation and these tough economic times. Thank you so much! hide»

Reply to the classroom

Dear mason and Marcus,

It is with sincerest gratitude that I write this letter. It is because of the generosity of people like you who care about students and learning in the arts that my students will be able to utilize technological resources to enhance their learning experience. My students are going to love the LCD projector because it will help them to see images such as George Washington Crossing the Delaware and Rembrandt's self-portrait in a new and exciting scale. We have not been able to use the projector yet because a power cord was missing from the package but we will soon have one to use!

We will be able to have lively discussions of multiple works of art from all over the world and easily transition from one image to the next. The best part is that all of my students will be able to see the images more clearly! Prior to the LCD projector, using a book, art print or the computer monitor to share images of works of art with my students was challenging to make sure that they all got to see the image up close and personal. Now we will be able to use multiple Internet resources and museum websites to explore collections at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and many others!

It is because of donors like you that students all over the United States are experiencing the benefits of resources like the ones you helped provide for my students.

With gratitude,
Ms. R.

Dear mason and Marcus,

I cannot express in words how truly excited I was this morning to find out that my project was fully funded. I literally jumped out of my chair and cheered! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Using the multimedia projector as a tool for teaching and learning, I will be able to bring my students on journey of art throughout the world. I will be able to teach students how technology can be used to explore art and learn about different cultures. I know they are going to love it!

Thanks to you, the projector screen I have been waiting to pull down will come to life with images that will make my students enthusiastic about discovering art! Your generosity has inspired me and I know my students will be inspired too. Thank you so much!

With gratitude,
Ms. R.
