My students need a variety of Science materials to make Science fun!!!! Big View Magnifiers, A Hands-On Classification Center, A set of Feel & Discover Science Bags, and a Real Bugs Discovery Kit.
I work with Special Needs and at risk students at a title one low-income school. Our funds are very limited and there is no extra money for the things that make learning so much fun. My kids are great and are so anxious to learn new skills. However it takes a lot of hands on, developmentally appropriate materials for them to learn.
I have recently started a science center in my classroom. My students get so excited when we do science projects and are so interested in learning about the world around them. The problem is that I don't have the materials I need to provide the science activities I would like to. Most of the items in my science center are things I have gathered and made.
I am in need of hands on science materials to add to our Science center. Lakeshore has some great science materials that would add much interest to our Science center. A Hands-On Classification Center where my kids would get an exciting, hands-on introduction to insects, sea life, the earth and more—with real-life specimens they’ll love to touch and explore! The classification center includes 5 photo mats covering 5 major science topics, plus 15 real specimens—from snakeskin and honeycomb to a sand dollar and sea star. Kids just choose a specimen, then search for its image on the mats…building science vocabulary and observation skills with every match they make! A complete set of Feel & Discover Science Bags would introduce my kids to earth and life science topics…with fun-to-touch miniatures they’ll love to explore! Each science bag is packed with 10 different sensory objects, plus 10 matching photo cards with fun facts on back. Kids just reach inside each bag to grab a miniature, then match it to the corresponding card…building their science knowledge, vocabulary and observation skills—as they touch and compare! With a Real Bugs Discovery Kit it gives children an up-close look at 12 incredible insects—from a tiger beetle to a lantern fly! Each real specimen is permanently encased in clear, indestructible acrylic—so children can safely explore the insects from every angle. With the Big View Magnifier it give kids a giant-sized view . The huge 4" lens is securely mounted in a freestanding, plastic frame—providing plenty of room for little hands to hold objects underneath.
These wonderful materials would make learning about Science so interesting and fun. I know this will enhance the learning in my classroom and foster a love of science for every child. Please consider funding this proposal for my special kids.
