I am the Arts Director of a Title 1 PreK to 8 Public School located in the historically under-served area NY. Over 92% of our students receive one or more free meals. As a recently designated School for the Arts, we have instituted a theater arts program where students write a story, choose one story to be produced as a play, write the script and produce the show in its entirety (with some professional guidance, of course). Unfortunately, the auditorium’s sound system is somewhat confining with only fixed microphones and stands.

Acting often requires the use of movement and location which can be impeded by handheld or fixed microphones. One of our scripts required a character to carry a box into a house while delivering his lines. The re-written scene was quite awkward when the character had to place the box on the table, walk up to the microphone to deliver his lines and then return and pick up the box and leave the stage. “Mobile” characterizations like these do not lend themselves to fixed location microphone performances.

This necessitates the need to obtain wireless lapel microphone systems that will allow our young actors and actresses the freedom to maximize their acting abilities. Two wireless microphone systems would “untie the hands” of our young actors and actresses.

Your generosity will add an immense new element to our theater arts program by enhancing creative freedom.
