Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

We need to taking reading home with us. Next year I am looping with my class. We began our learning adventure together last year and now my 22 students and I are moving upstairs to the second grade. Over the past year we have moved from emerging readers to emergent and fluent readers.

As I make the move to teach second grade for the first time I want to ensure that my students have reading experiences that are challenging and interesting to them.

The full color weekly editions of these magazines will keep my students interested in reading. They will also allow students to bring their literacy experiences home where they can share them with their entire family.

By donating to this project you can put literacy resources directly into the hands of students. By giving students resources that they can keep and use at home you will help them establish a home connection with literacy and an ownership of reading that will outlast these magazines.
