MORE "I teach fifth grade in a high-need community. My students range in ability, including a large cluster of gifted/high achieving students.
Technology is an area I feel obligated to teach. Although it is not part of the regular curriculum, technology will help these students survive in the real world. Unfortunately, many of these students do not have computers at home, and therefore it is essential that they practice computer skills at school. I try to incorporate different computer skills, such as word processing and PowerPoint. Last year, thanks to the generosity of donors at Donorschoose.org, I was able to receive a flash drive for each of my third grade students. Throughout the year, my students were able to learn how to save their own projects. This year, I am moving to fifth grade and increasing the number of students by about 15. Since I have 20 flash drives already, I would love to continue to provide personal flash drives to the rest of my class. Your support in this project will ensure that each students will have their own flash drive. With this resource, students will feel equipped and empowered to create more projects using technology. I will also be able to use technology as a more consistent tool in the classroom. Thank you in advance for your consideration in this project. HIDE My students need 16 flash drives to save their own work.
