"I am the technology director for this school/ hospital rehabilitation center. Currently my district is using old government surplus computers, which often freeze.

My students face a major obstacle in that because of their disability, it is difficult for them to take notes, complete research, and complete simple homework assignments.

These netbooks will be used so that students can explore science webinars while in their stretchers, wheelchairs, or hospital beds. It will give them a chance to complete at least some of their work , so that when they return to their home school districts they will not be far behind.

Please help me, help these students. My district continues to suffer from severe financial constraints particularly in these economic times. Many of these students also come from very poor financial households, with limited resources. It is my hope that these students can at least have a chance to become successful. hide»

Dear Ron, Judith, Jillian, Joel & Neva, Bryan, Sarah, Vindyia, Barbara, Rebecca, ibelieveinkidshearts, Vicky, charmaine, Korein Foundation and Anonymous Donors,

Thank you so much for these wonderful net books. These materials are being put to use every single day. We use them in writing our labs, as well as writing down our everyday assignments. In addition to this, they ar being used by the students to complete their homework assignments in the other classes, ( English, Social Studies, Health, and Math)
One of the great uses of the notebooks has also been in the area of technology. The students have begun to learn how to use power point, excel and word within their subject courses. This has been a real asset to their learning.
Lastly, the students are using the notebooks to communicate with loved ones while they are at the hospital. This has prove to be an extra value for these students, since there really is no place like home!. Thank you again for these extraordinary gifts of learning.!

With gratitude,
Mr. D.

"I have just retired as a professor of special education, and I directed and taught a graduate program in adaptive technology, teaching teachers how to give their students with disabilities access to computer technology. I assume you are using adaptive hardware and software, and know of resources such as the Closing the Gap conference and website."

Dear Ron, Judith, Jillian, Joel & Neva, Bryan, Sarah, Vindyia, Barbara, Rebecca, ibelieveinkidshearts, Vicky, charmaine, Korein Foundation and Anonymous Donors,

Thank you all for your kindness and generosity. With your help these critically ill students will have the same educational benefits as normal students do. With these net books these students will be able to do a host of activities that they previously could never attempt to do, With in the science classroom these students will be able to research major scientific concepts with ease. They will also be able to analyze scientific data and create hypothesis upon the material given to them. This will vastly improve their educational opportunities from within the world of scientific inquiry
Thank you again,

With gratitude,
Mr. D.

There’s something especially pleasing, here, knowing that the items our donations will help to purchase are likely be particularly valued & particularly meaningful to these kids, many of whose daily lives probably make what we might regard as “the smallest things” seem almost infinitely precious."
