I teach second grade at an inner city school in Indiana. Many of my students are ELL students which means English Language Learners. I love working with my students. They have such an excitement and desire to learn.

Due to budget cuts, the class sizes at my school will greatly increase. In a normal class, it is difficult for all students to be near the board and overhead projector. Having an LCD projector would allow me a variety of options for working with students. Students would be allowed to bring their actual work to the projector to work demonstrate math problems for the class to better see and understand. This technology would allow my students to be more actively involved in their learning rather than waiting for me to come by to help them or from listening to explanations of their work verbally. An LCD projector would make learning much more effective and exciting. This is the computer age and many of my students have yet to experience the Internet for themselves. My students could participate in visual lessons using the Internet. They could also work in small groups giving mini lessons on topics they have learned about.

By introducing my students to this technology, they will be more active in their learning. More importantly, it will help me reach all learning styles and that will be very important having larger class sizes. All lessons will mean much more when they are able to see and actively use the LCD projector.

It would be an honor to have you fund this project. I want to be able to offer the best to my boys and girls and this would help our year start out in a powerful way.
