Calling all donors pick up a Toobaloo and listen closely! I am a current intervention, and inclusion, teacher for 2nd grade Reading in a Title 1 (high poverty) school.

My students will work hard next year to build the fluency, comprehension, and phonics skills, they need to become strong fluent readers. Many will not have the self monitoring skills, or phonological awareness, to decode and question as they read to themselves.

I would love to be able to assign each student an interactive learning tool called a Toobaloo that improves phonemic skills, reading fluency, and comprehension. These tools are plastic phone-like devices, that magnify the student's reading voice so they can clearly hear themselves as they read. This provides immediate auditory feedback, and helps them hear the sounds that make the words they are reading to themselves.
