"All students are capable of learning and are better at it when provided with the necessary resources and materials. I teach English II, grade 10, in a high-need community.

Our school uses a curriculum in which most of the computer labs are reserved for the math classes, as most of the math classes are obligated to visit the computer lab twice a week, for most of our 80 minute periods. Because of the aforementioned my students are rarely able to spend much time in the computer lab and are unable to complete papers and conduct research. Students are often times faced with needing to continue such tasks at home or other places in which they have access to computers and/or Internet access. Students are also faced with not having the proper storage device to save work. Because a lot of my students come from low-income families, securing a USB drive is difficult for a lot of them.

If a USB drive is purchased for each of my rising sophomores, the issue of the shortage of computers will be alleviated to a certain extent in that they will have tools to properly save work and continue where they were previously working.

As previously stated, most students do well academically when given the necessary tools. Although my students do not come from wealthy backgrounds, they still deserve adequate tools and resources. Your contribution will make it possible for my students to continue to learn while utilizing technology, which is becoming a bigger part of our world every day.

Each of my 75 rising sophomores needs one USB flash drive.

Dear Karen, Debbie J., Martha, Elizabeth, Liwalo na Liwe, Roger, Derek, Airielle, Jeff, Darren and Anonymous Donor,
Words cannot express how grateful my students and I are for your generous contribution towards "Technology is Everything!". When I first told my students about the project and my goal, they did not seem to be very moved and did not seem to think that complete strangers would want to invest in their educations. The students not only use the USB drives for my class, but for other class' assignments as well. They seem to take pride in their personal USB drives because whenever we have the chance to visit the computer lab and I look around, I see the devices glowing in most of their computers.

We now have fewer issues with student work becoming lost from hard drives; students are now able to work on their assignments at home, in their neighborhood libraries, or at a friend's house because of your donation. Students are so excited about using the USB drives that some of them are now typing minor homework assignments. Thank you for helping them understand the benefit and importance of technology and for encouraging them to work on projects, papers, and other assignments outside of the classroom.

With gratitude,
Ms. H.

Dear Karen, Debbie J., Martha, Elizabeth, Liwalo na Liwe, Roger, Derek, Airielle, Jeff, Darren and Anonymous Donor,
On behalf of the students I service, thank you for your generous donations. Because of your generosity our students will be able to properly prepare typed assignments by being able to complete two very necessary steps: properly saving documents with the ability to revise them when necessary. The tools and strategies that will be applied by the usage of the donated storage devices are tools and strategies that will be essential to my students in the long run, especially when they are enrolled as college or university students. It warms my heart that there are still people in our society who hold education as a priority and work to help provide a quality education to students in impoverished communities. Again, thank you for caring.

With gratitude,
Ms. H.
