"My students want to listen to someone other than me reading! I am a 2nd grade teacher at a wonderful charter school in a high need area.

My students love to listen to audio books and are overjoyed when they can sit back, relax and enjoy a great story. Unfortunately, our classroom budget has been eliminated. Many of our supplies are purchased by the classroom teacher.

I would love to allow my students to listen to audio books and stories as part of their center work time. Since I work with a diverse educational population, their center time work is leveled. Sadly, my class cannot have a listening center. When we do a listening center it is done at one level and as a whole class. I'd love to have my students work in small groups at a true listening center.

With your help, I can enrich my students center time with a listening station and audio books at their level. This donation would allow me to challenge some of my students and help to build confidence to my lower level readers.

My students need a 4-person listening center. The cost of this proposal is $202, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ?."

Dear Concord School, Kristen, Ronna, Rebecca and geraldine,
Thank you for your donation to our project "Listening and Learning". Your donation has allowed my students to listen to stories on CD. We use it every day and it quickly has become the "favorite" workshop activity in the room! It was amazing to watch them hear some of their favorite books being read directly to them. The individual headsets makes them feel the author is reading to them and only them. They love it! And I love watching their faces light up during parts of the stories!
After listening to stories, some students discuss the books. Their discussions are so lively and they enjoy listening to each other. Not only has your donation aided them in reading, but also in listening and communicating. What a wonderful added bonus!
I don't believe I can put into words the joy I get to experience watching them and listening to them. My students have a new world open to them. They all want to be authors! They write about the books they have listened to and have to share it with me and anyone else who comes in the classroom. Your donation has made that possible.
My students do not have a lot and when I explained to them that people donated the "Listening Center" to us, they were truly touched. As am I.
Words cannot express the gratitude I hold in my heart for you.

With gratitude,
Ms. G.

Dear Concord School, Kristen, Ronna, Rebecca and geraldine,
I cannot begin to express the joy I feel knowing my students will receive this much needed listening center! Your commitment to helping students experience the pleasure of listening to a story being read to them is invaluable.
Reading is the key to being a successful student and you have aided in that success! Many of my students are struggling readers. Your gift has allowed them to listen to a story and feel confident answering comprehension questions. They will be able to participate with discussions about the story with their peers. Your gift will also enable them to not only see the words, but hear them!
My students this year, and future students, will be greatly enriched by this gift!

With gratitude,
Ms. G.
