My students need 25 microphone headsets for a yearly World War II project in which they interview community members who were alive during the war and create Windows Movie maker projects based on the interviews.

I currently teach World history, United States History, and Economics. My students come from a variety of rural communities. The area is very blue collar and is on the decline as factories have left the area.

I have conducted this project for the past 3 years. The students grumble about the project at first--"What do you mean I have to find an old person and then talk to them for a few hours?!? That's stupid!" But as the first interviews get done, the stories start filtering into the classroom which inspires the next group of kids to go out and do the interviews and it spirals. By the end, even the kids who rarely turn in work seem to get this project done---and done well! Our biggest problem is the lack of headphones. A normal class size is 20+ and we only have 5 microphones available to work on the projects. As you can imagine, it takes us forever to get done.

We need enough microphones so that every student can work on this project at the same time. This project, while very worthwhile, cuts into classroom time every year because we have so many students that need to wait to get their projects started purely because we don't have enough microphones to go around. With your help, we can change that and allow the students to get to work and get these stories told.

Your help will ensure that the stories from this generation get told. Many of those from this generation don't even realize the historical value of their memories. They have books of information in their heads. Help my students tell their stories before it is too late. These microphones will make this project much easier for the students. You will make it possible for my students to learn and for our community to have a record of what life was really like during World War II.
