"Are you a clean, green, environmental machine? Well, my second grade scientists are! They are compelled by the idea of environmentalism and have such a clear sense of right and wrong. Right now my school district is falling victim to heavy budget cuts and as a result it is becoming increasingly difficult to find materials, or the money to purchase materials for my students to continue having active and engaging science lessons. It would be lovely to continue to teach comprehensive science lessons with materials to cater to various styles of learning. As a long standing steward of the earth, I would like to pass that honor on to my second grade scientists, especially since they have a continued interest in environmental topics.
My students need some models, science kits and experiments, and books on related topics. These materials will teach them about watersheds, the water cycle, the effect of pollution in various forms as well as non-native plant species, and how to compost in order to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Phew! There will be a lot of hands-on learning taking place with the materials provided by... YOU! By choosing to donate to our proposal you will enable my second grade scientists to learn, grow, and pass along their learning as future leaders of our world. Not to mention you will have the sheer delight of bringing really cool scientific models, experiments, and non-fiction texts to a classroom where my students will eat them up!
My students need an environmental awareness paperback library, a watershed book, a water cycle model activity set, a just add water kit for ponds and streams, a nitty-gritty soil science kit, a rocks and soil activity tub, two plant texts, an environmental detectives book, worm-away compost kit, and a "reduce, reuse, recycle" activity kit.

Dear RBC Blue Water Project,
Thank you so much for funding my project to enhance clean water learning. My second grade scientists will truly enjoy the new learning materials, new possibilities, and the new information they will have to take home and pass on. The best part about your funding of this project is that I will be able to use it every year for years to come! Thanks to your generosity I will be able to pass on clean water, good earth stewardship to my students no matter what grade I teach in the future. This upcoming year however, my second graders will have access to environmental books, watershed models, composting materials, and more because of your support. Thank you again. With gratitude, Mrs. C.
Photos coming soon!
Great news -- this project is now a reality! We ordered the materials and they were sent directly to the classroom.

"RBC supported this classroom project because it aligns with the RBC Blue
Water Projectâ„¢, a grant program established to help foster a culture
of water stewardship around the world. It in part provides funding to
support education about watershed protection, access to clean drinking
water, sustainable water use and the value and vulnerability of water
resources. "
