Our school district is a high need/low income public district with more than 50% of the students on free or reduced lunch. I teach English and Writing for students grades 9-12.

Although industry has left the area, the district is doing what they can to help our students compete in the 21st Century. Students have access to technology like interactive whiteboards and laptop carts with innovative software such as Inspiration 8 and iWork. My class needs help saving the projects that they create, though. Saving on the computers is shaky at best, and emailing documents is not fool-proof and is an inefficient way to save materials. The SD cards will let students take far more pictures without stopping to load them on to the computers.

The addition of flash drives and SD memory cards to my classroom would give the students the opportunity to create, transport, maintain, and save the projects that they work on. It will give the students the chance to share assignments, take them between the local library, the computer lab, and the classroom carts, and give the students a reliable way to save their work.

Your donation will make it possible for students to efficiently maintain and save their work. Your donation will also save my sanity. No longer will I hear "... but I swear I emailed it to you," or, "I saved it on my name-drive yesterday but it's not here!!!" It's a win-win donation!
