The Panthers Track Club is a youth track and cross-country team founded in November 2005 at the school where I was a fourth grade teacher. I started out with eight girls who desired to run Colgate Women’s Games Trials. By March 2006 the team had become an official entity of our school. The team grew to 35 girls with the school looking to use track and field as a vehicle to compete and develop students physically and mentally. The team didn't have access to a track so the girls started out running up and down the halls of our school. Their first accomplishment included one girl qualifying for the USATF Regional Championships.

Today, as gym teacher, I coach a team that has grown to 66 boys and girls from first to eight grade. These energetic students are enthusiastic about running, and look forward to all the sport has to offer. To send these athletes to competitions throughout New York and the country requires extensive financing. Some of the expenses the team will incur are costs for team memberships (AAU & USATF), uniforms, sweat suits, transportation fees, and administration costs. We have 66 children that are very excited about running and learning about the sport of track and field. The reality is that many of our kids come from economically disadvantaged situations and may not be able to participate in all events without financial support. Your support of our youth running will be greatly appreciated.

The vision of the track club is to become a community-based organization supporting the needs of our children. Purchasing equipment like balls, scooters, storage bags, and equipment cart will enable me and the volunteer parents to instruct the children in a variety fun exercises, stay organized, and continue educating them on the sport of track and field.

Your contribution to The Panthers Track Club will go very far towards reaching our children. The team’s vision aims for the runners to use what they have learned in track, and apply the skills to achieving their life goals. Proper exercising, healthy eating, sportsmanship, hard work, determination, persistence, and patience are just a few things our children will learn in addition to becoming physically fit. Your contributions will unlock opportunities to expose our children to unlimited levels of personal achievement, new friends from different neighborhoods (or even cities), and the possibilities to pursue the sport they enjoy at the collegiate level. Please help our children believe to achieve.
