Exploring Native American Cultures Through Art

Our students need four Dream Catcher Kits, tissue paper for making masks, Colored Sand for making sand paintings, and plaster strips for making masks.

Nothing grabs the attention of a third grader like an art project! Next year we will have over 90 third graders at our school and our Native American Unit is one of our most important units in the school year. The unit centers around learning about Native cultures by creating different art representative of various tribes.

Unfortunately our classroom supply budgets will be slashed next year, and we won't be able to afford the supplies needed to create the art central to the unit. With unemployment well above the national average in our town, our families are struggling and won't be able to contribute to the supplies.

We need the Dream Catcher Kits to make dream catchers, tissue and plaster to make masks, and colored sand to make sand paintings. Our students made lasting connections to Iroquois, Hopi, and Sioux tribes this year by creating artwork representative of each tribe. We want next year's students to have the same opportunity.

Your help will provide this opportunity, and allow our students to connect to native cultures.
