My students need one color printer and a color drive belt to create color projects in MS Word, MS Publisher, and MS Excel.

Family - 365 Days a Year I teach 5th Computer Applications in a high need rural community. Approximately 50% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Our school is located within miles of a large ARMY base. Many of my students have a parent/guardian that is currently deployed. This particular ARMY base, at this time, is the heaviest deployed military base to war zones in the nation. I have several students, in each and every class, that are greatly impacted by the deployment of so many of their loved ones. Our school also has a large population of Special Education students.

The family calendar project is a huge hit with my students, as well as their families. Due to the current economic situation we had to print our calendars in black and white this year. This truly takes away from the preciousness of the color pictures that my students bring in from home for their calendars. My students bring in photos to be scanned, photos on thumb drives, photos that are emailed, and design Publisher templates that turn into a 12 month calendar. My students crop their pictures, edit their pictures, and personalize the dates of their calendars. A color printer would allow my students calendars to come to life.

My students need a color printer to bring their calendars alive. I am asking for funding for a color laser printer and one color drive belt to allow my students to print their family calendars in color. Students will also be able to use the color printer for various other projects throughout the year. We create brochures, fliers, charts, and graphs all year long. A color printer would allow students to analyze a color graph and learn how to explain their data.

Your help in funding a color printer for the students will bring a smile to the faces of every person who views their calendar. When a mom or dad who is deployed turns the pages in the calendar they will be able to reconnect with their children and families. Black and white pictures printed from our current printer are often fuzzy and blurry. You will make it possible for students to create endless memories, all while learning computer applications. The color printer can be used for each unit the children are introduced to; MS Word, MS Excel, MS Publisher, as well as our many Internet research projects. Thank you for your consideration!
