Help, We Desperately Need the Basics!!!

My students need basic supplies, like pencils, erasers, sharpeners and white board markers.

My student's want to be successful but lack the financial means to be prepared to do so. I teach 8th grade math in a high-need community. Most of my students come to school to learn but are not prepared with the basic supplies in order to be successful.

Teaching students from a high-need community is so rewarding, yet challenging at the same time. To see kids that want so badly to complete their work but don't have the basic supplies to do so is very frustrating.

With pencils, erasers and pencil sharpeners my students will be able to complete any assignment that is given to them without excuses. I also often have students work out math problems on the class set of white boards I have, but are in desperate need of markers for them. My students love using the whiteboards and I often use them as a reward for class behavior. So having markers, so that they can actually use them would be a huge incentive for them.

Your generosity would make it possible for my students to gain self-confidence through practice. Either by having a pencil (with an eraser and sharpener) to work problems out on paper or dry erase markers so problems can be worked out on whiteboards.
