My students need a classroom set of 20 calculators so that everyone in the class will be able to use the same set of instructions.

I teach a Basic Algebra class consisting of 9th & 10th graders. It is a combination of high risk and inclusion students. This class will continue on in the math sequence by taking Basic Geometry and then Basic Algebra II. These calculators will see a lot of use in the years to come.

This classroom is a very lively mix of special education and at-risk students. They are learning the algebra concepts at a different pace and learning style than your average student.

The TI-30XS calculator will allow me to streamline the technology that is used in this class. Approximately half of the students do not have access to a calculator, especially a scientific calculator. They get frustrated will all of the steps that are needed on some of their calculators. This calculator allows the student to type the problem exactly as it appears in the book.

I'm trying to give these students a chance to succeed in math, and eventually life. The purchase of these calculators will be a great first step in pushing these students to excel in school.
