"Want to help military students climb to the top in the classroom? Well this can happen every year with your help! I currently have an inclusive fourth grade classroom that includes general and special education students. We are currently located on military base in Virginia.

My students experience parental deployment which causes stress and burdens on their families. I would like to provide meaningful and educational opportunities for them in a positive environment.

All of the materials provide much needed student-centered activities that will help focus and educate them! They will also lend the students numerous activities where they will participate in a cooperative learning environment across the curriculum.

Your help will ensure that my students will be provided the positive and fun learning environment that they deserve!

My students need white boards, book boxes and Math, Science, Reading and Writing activities/games. The cost of this proposal is $884, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ?."

Dear Verizon Virginia, Jennifer, Eileen, Laura, Mathew, Susan A, Philip, Toby & Nora, Donald, gregory and Anonymous Donor,

I would like to give a sincere thank you to all who donated through donors choose to help my class. With your support I have been able to reach out to my students many different learning styles. My students require differentiation because there are many different levels of learning going on in the classroom. Being I teach, with my colleagues, all the subjects to my students, so many of the materials including the whiteboards and game boards, that have been donated to my classroom, have been used across all the curriculum, especially with the whiteboards. They have been used with small groups with students in my math class. We have been working on identifying place value as well as being able to read and write out numbers. So we have practiced all of this with using dry erase markers on the whiteboards and have seen amazing results with the students' progress. The class has also used the whiteboards while playing math games to help them work out math problems. To keep the whiteboards organized we use some of the blue bins that were purchased with this grant to help keep the white boards manageable to use and transport anywhere with in the classroom. The whiteboards and blue bins have been a wonderful addition to our classroom!

The board games have been a wonderful enrichment tool in our classroom. We have already used one of the math games "Climb the Cliff" which works with fractions in a small group setting. We have also played "Capture the Flag" which works with strengthening students reading comprehension. It is amazing how easily the students catch on to the games and really show results in their class work after using the games. We plan to continue to use many of the other game boards that we have from the grant to help enrich my students learning.

We are starting to work on our writing more in the classroom and are looking forward to using the writing prompt box that was also purchased by all of you. We will use the writing prompt kit with students in small groups as well as independently. These writing prompts give the students practice with writing Narratives, Informational, Descriptive and many other writing styles. Writing certainly can be quite a process and with this kit it makes it more appealing to the students. We really appreciate your support with assisting all of my students in succeeding in the classroom.

Again, all of this enrichment could not have happened without your support with donors choose. I really hope that other teachers are as blessed as I have been by all of you. I know we have all experienced the changes in our economy and yet there are still people willing to help out! Thank you for your generous assistance and for touching the lives of our future leaders.

With gratitude,
Mrs. L.

Dear Verizon Virginia, Jennifer, Eileen, Laura, Mathew, Susan A, Philip, Toby & Nora, Donald, gregory and Anonymous Donor,
I would like to extend my utmost gratitude to each and every one of you. As we know this world can be a little grim, so the materials you are providing my classroom will help brighten each child's future! I am so thankful that there are people who recognize that the children are the ones that need our support the most. Your support will help provide enrichment in reading, math, science and writing. All of which are core areas where children need the extra push. So thank you again for your very gracious support.

With gratitude,
Mrs. L.

"I gave to this project because we are teachers ourselves and know how hard it is to get what we need. We also gave as part of the challenge Steven Colbert gave and as a way to honor Toby's grandfather. He was in the Navy and fought in WWII. "

"My education has made all the difference in how many opportunities are open to me today and I hope that others will have access to the same experience. I am on active duty in the Air Force and there is no way I could stand by while the Navy is in the lead ;-) Thanks Stephen for giving this cause some airtime. "

"I gave to this project because...our children and their teachers need us. They need support from the ground up. Their school boards need to know that federal and state cuts in funding must be reversed. I'm old. I'm investing in our youth. Please join me. It's a lot easier to get a quarter from 100 people than a dollar from 25 people. "
