I am a 4th and 5th grade FOCAL (Special Education) teacher in NC. FOCAL is the acronym for Focus On Careers, Academics and Life Skills. In our class we provide opportunities for students to focus on communication, self-help, social, and academic/vocational skills that are pertinent to individual needs. These opportunities occur in the student's classroom as well as in inclusive settings with regular peers. Physical, emotional, and behavioral needs are also addressed throughout the day.

Being a new classroom, we have limited supplies. What we do have are not appropriate to our students individual needs.

My students require more practice than most students to master a skill. They also learn best by hands on activities which is what the materials will provide my students.

By supporting our project you will allow students to remain motivated and engaged in math. You will also be promoting independence for those students with limited fine motor skills.
