My second grade students are digital natives and are highly motivated by technology. The use of digital cameras support the visual and kinesthetic learners. It also supports my students with fine motor issues by supporting their illustrating (both fiction and non-fiction pieces).

Many of my students not exposed to this technology that has a positive impact on their growth and development. It also helps my students to share their school experiences with their family. My students do not have easy access to a digital camera. They are interested in photography and it helps them to express themselves visually and creatively. 2nd graders are concrete learners and taking digital photos supports the concrete learner. My digital natives thrive using technology. It enables them to share their interpretation of an experience. It supports my students who struggle with writing by allowing them to tell a story with photos. It promotes their verbal skills when they share about their photos and why they chose them.

My students need a digital camera that they can have easy access to. When I asked students how they knew it was autumn, they could not tell me very much. When we took digital photos depicting signs of winter on a neighborhood walk, they were able to explain in detail. Cameras are motivating and promote a real world experience. Students could visually see and capture the signs of winter. Using digital cameras is very motivating to students.

Your support will ensure that my students have access to a valuable piece of technology that is motivating and levels the playing field for all students. It meets the needs of my students and promotes sharing and hands-on learning. Your help will truly make a difference in the lives of my students.
