" I teach a classroom full of eager first grade readers. Our school is located in a high-poverty community in Alabama.

As a first-year teacher, I am excited about my students’ progress and growing love for reading. I love to hear my students say, “I read this whole book all by myself!”. My students’ favorite part of my classroom is our library, which consists of a beach canopy, squishy pillows, and books. Since this is my first year in the classroom, I do not have many books. I have accumulated some throughout the year, and I have purchased several with my own money. However, my students often ask me when we will be getting new books because, “We have read these books a million times!”. I do not want my students to get bored with reading, so I think new books would be very motivational for them.

Just like every classroom, I have students on different reading levels. I need books that are on the beginning of first grade level as well as books on the second grade level so I can challenge my higher-level readers. Leveled books provide my students with the opportunity to read independently, develop comprehension, participate in readers’ theater, and increase brainpower. By having a greater variety of books on different reading levels, it will motivate my students to achieve the next reading level for new books. These books will impact not only my present class, but also my future students.

Developing an early love for reading is crucial for the continued growth of students after first grade. Please help support this project to develop a generation of lifelong learners and readers. The more students read, the more they will grow!

My students need 2 LeapFrog School sets of InterACTIVE decodable books, Levels 1 and 2. The cost of this proposal is $211, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ?."

Dear Stephanie and Anonymous Donors,

What an impact these books have had in my classroom! My students absolutely love the stories, and they are highly motivated to read them. I have put the leveled books in my classroom library. The students use them when they have free time to read. They also partner read with the books. I use them during small group instruction as well.
These leveled books have allowed me to teach students how to pick a book that is just right for them. They get so excited when they can read the books without missing words! The best part about it is they don't get tired of the books because they have such a variety to choose from. They are also the kinds of stories the children like reading repeatedly.
Without your generous donations, I would not have been able to provide my students with the opportunity to read leveled books. These books will be used in my classroom for many years to come. Many students will be reached because of your contributions. I am honored to be a part of this project. Thank you so much!

With gratitude,
Ms. G.

Dear Stephanie and Anonymous Donors,
I don't even know where to begin to thank you for your donations toward my classroom project. Since last year was my first year as a teacher, it was very difficult for me to determine the levels of the books I had in my classroom library. My students were on such different levels, and I wanted to match the reading skills of each one. Now that I have sets of leveled readers, it will be much easier for me to target the specific reading needs of my students. These leveled readers will be used in small group instruction, learning centers, and also individual reading times. These books will boost my students' confidence when they are able to read a book on their independent level. I know they will be very motivated to read when they see so many new books in the classroom. I am very excited about incorporating these new books in my reading lessons for years to come. Thank you for making it possible for my current and future students to grow in reading.

With gratitude,
Ms. G.
