I am a first year teacher working in a Title 1, rural school in Illinois. I absolutely love teaching and am passionate about giving my students the best education possible. I have a wide range of needs in my 16 student class but every single one brings something unique and special to our 2nd grade class!

Hands on learning is a vital part of a young elementary students educational experience. I firmly believe that social skills are an incredibly important part of learning. Students need to be taught how to work together and problem solve. Additionally, Legos can be a fantastic tool to reinforce following directions. Legos are a wonderful tool to help students with all of these concepts! While Legos not only have educational benefits, they also are FUN! I have many fond memories of building numerous things out of Legos and would like for my students to have that same experience.

Building with Legos will excite students and engage them with learning. My students need supplies like Legos so they can work together and build their social skills. I am also requesting a set of community worker Lego people. We spend a great deal of time studying community workers & this would give them a wonderful chance to “act out” some of the things that we have learned about. The Lego blocks could also be used to create community buildings.
