I am the only art teacher in a high poverty high school in a school of approximately 1100 students with a high concentration of special needs students. I teach art to grades nine through twelve. My classes include various classes, in one class I might have art 1-4 and pottery 2 in one classroom, which at times can be overwhelming.

One of the obstacles my students face is a lack of funds and materials. My students have expressed an interest in working with digital photography and in further research of the Pop art period. This project would combine both(pop art and digital photography)into an interesting, cross curricular project that could involve my students as well as students from other classes.

The resources that I need to complete this project are: gel medium, fiber paste, digital ground, paint digital ground, gel topcoat with UVL, acrylic paint sets, spray varnish, multimedia varnish, take five art prints, Andy Warhol-DVD, jumbo paint brushes. This project will benefit my students by combining digital printmaking, technology and the study of the Pop Art period to design a variety of substrate skins of which to print on while gaining knowledge about the Pop Art period.

You will make it possible for my students to incorporate their study of the Pop Art period into the digitally enhanced designs, and in turn to print them on various skins that they have designed thereby being exposed to a new form of digital printing.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
