Science Newsletter to Enrich Studies

My students need 54 copies of a weekly science newsletter. I have two different classes. Each will be speaking Spanish during science with another teacher. During the reading part of the day, I will like to supplement the science with an English version of up-to-date science subjects. This would be in the form of a weekly science newsletter produced by Weekly Reader.

Science needs to be the topic at the dinner table. I teach a 5th/6th grade Dual Immersion classroom. Sixth grade in the morning and Fifth in the afternoon. Languages being taught will be Spanish/English next year. Our school has a need for enrichment in Science.

We are not allowed to ask students for donations for supplies. Students need to be talking about science. They need to be reading about science. A newsletter would be the jumping off point for my two grades.

Most students in this area do not have the Internet, let alone get the newspaper. I don't think they realize how important it is to read something, talk about it, and then share their knowledge with others. I love how the newspaper that I am requesting is weekly, so that it becomes a habit to talk about what is happening in their world.

You will make an impact on my students for a whole year. This donation will spark their interest in subjects that could take them into college. Opening eyes of learning is what I work for everyday. I just need help in getting the most current information out to this community.
