Not Just Your Run-of-the-Mill Calendar

My students need an Elementary Calendar Math Center that will serve as more than just a calendar, and they need an Organization Station Pocket Chart for all of their math and literacy centers.

I teach a wonderful group of second grade students in a very large and diverse school.

Our class is currently using a calendar that just doesn't meet our needs. We also are in need of some sort of organization tool to organize our math and literacy centers.

My students would greatly benefit from having a calendar pocket chart. These calendars do much more than teach the day/month/year. These calendars also come with a question of the day which targets critical thinking, they come with a tally system to record how many days they have been in school. Recording the number of days using coin values and a 100 chart are other features that are all included in this one pocket chart. This pocket chart would serve us throughout the entire day. Our class would update the calendar every morning as a whole group and later throughout the day, students would be able to use it as a math center as there are so many added features a regular old calendar could not provide. Lastly, our class loves to do enrichment activities through the use of math and literacy centers. Right now, we do not have a system to organize these. We could really use an organization station which we could hang on the wall and display numerous centers at once so students could choose at their leisure.
