I teach first grade at a low income school in NC and love my students. However, I simply do not have the funds to provide my students with what they need, especially since I am currently putting myself through graduate school. We had WhisperPhones at my old school and they allowed my students to hear phonemes so much more clearly as they read. They also helped with their spelling as they could accurately hear sounds to write. WhisperPhones allow students to become more comfortable with their reading and want to read in small groups or aloud for the class. What better gift can you give a child than to READ?!

There is a complete lack of quality supplies at my school simply because we are forced to spend our supply money on pencils, construction paper, and writing paper. There is little or no money left for fun stuff.

WhisperPhones will allow my students to hear themselves reading and hear sounds in words when they are writing. Because most of my students are not read to at home and are below grade level, it will allow them the opportunity to hear stories aloud through their own voice.

Help my students become comfortable readers and WANT to read in small groups and aloud for our class. What better gift can you give a child than to READ!
