Ms. Finne from Milwaukee WI is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need basic classroom supplies, including glue, 4 easel pads, graph paper and pencil sharpeners.

My students have GREAT potential but limited resources and they need YOUR help! I teach 6th grade math, science, and reading in an inner city school where funding is low but our commitment to proficiency is high.
I had no idea what a treat a working pencil sharpener was until ours broke and I had 44 students either unable to do their work or spending half their class time searching for someone with a working pen or pencil. Right now I have to have one student hold our pencil sharpener steady while another student sharpens their pencil because the wall-mounted sharpener the school provided has broken and the desk top one I bought no longer functions on its own. With 44 students who need sharpened pencils, this is hardly efficient. We are also currently trying to complete our science fair boards and have run out of glue. We spend a lot of time working on graphs in math so I like to provide enough graph paper for sufficient practice; however, the copies I'm allowed are limited. I'd also like my students to do group work and present their ideas to the class, but I do not have poster paper for them to present their ideas on.
What we could really use from you are basic supplies that make learning efficient and functional. We need a strong pencil sharpener, glue, large poster paper, and some graph paper. If my students could come to class each day and not have to worry about finding a place to sharpen their pencils or how they are going to finish their project without glue they would accomplish so much more. Their class time would not be wasted and they would not have to feel so frustrated and discouraged, resulting in off task behavior.
The truth is, I teach in a rough neighborhood. My students put up with more disappointment than they should have to and I would love to provide everything for them but, unfortunately, that is not possible. What we're asking for is a working pencil sharpener and a few other basic supplies that will make our day run just a little bit more smoothly.
