Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Imagine for a moment, students in English class reading novels as part of the curriculum. I teach at an alternative high school that focuses on independent learning. Most of our demographic is lower socio-economic and high risk.

Our on campus library is not equipped with the resources to integrate the state recommended novels into the curriculum. We have so few of the "classic's" that we are forced to sometimes cut novels out of the curriculum.

We need books, plain and simple. Our students are missing out on great books like Fahrenheit 451, Brave New World, Antigone and many more.

Your help will ensure my students are exposed to the literature that has shaped our world. We live in an area that is lacking in opportunities to experience the arts. As we all know books are great escape and way to learn about people, places and civilizations they would not otherwise be exposed.
