"I teach students with moderate to severe disabilities at a high school. I serve students in the 9th to 12th grade. These students are very special kids and are always looking for job opportunities to help them build their self-esteem and abilities.

My students have moderate/severe disabilities and are currently in charge of the recycling program at our school. They love to go around two times a week and collect the recycling. It is important to them and myself that these students learn a job skills while helping the environment. They are always seeming to pull out of the paper recycling bins plastic bottles. Our school does not have enough recycling bins to collect and recycle plastic bottles.

By having recycling receptacles at the school and being able to distribute them throughout the school environment and classrooms, they could learn a job skill and actually recycle a tremendously large number of plastic bottles at the same time.

Think about the environment today and the impact this project and "job" will have on the environment later! It like having the cake and eat it too!

My students need two 40 gallon recycling receptacles.

Dear Gary, Carol, Carey and Anonymous Donor,

My class and I would like to thank you so much for helping us obtain the recycling bottle boxes. Our job in the school is to recycle the paper, newspapers, catalogs and plastic bottles. There were so many plastic bottles that we needed more containers. We were seeing so many bottles go to waste in the trash bins. We thought it would be such a great idea to try to place a recycling box for bottles in as many classrooms as possible. This would also keep us extremely busy with our recycling opportunities.

It is terrific to know that there are people that support our class's efforts in making our high school a greener place. Again, we could not ask for more. Thanks.

With gratitude,
Mrs. C.

Dear Gary, Carol, Carey and Anonymous Donor,

My students and I can not thank you enough for the generous donation of the recycling boxes. With the help of the students in the class, the classroom aides and myself, we tackle the responsibility of recycling for the entire school.

The students look forward to our recycling efforts three times a week. With the added recycling boxes, we can now extend our efforts from the large areas of the school to the classrooms. The students are learning many useful skills for the future such as teamwork and cooperation.

We are so grateful for the opportunity to provide the school with a job skill that will help save the planet. Thanks so much.

With gratitude,
Mrs. C.
