Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach 4th grade in a high poverty ( 80%) and high ESL school in Central Ca. I have 32 students. Their demographics include 4 newcomers, 30 ESL students and 7 GATE students.

Due to our high poverty level, our district has forbidden us to ask for supplies from students. They have also frozen our supply budget in Dec. With months left my class is faced with no paper and no pencils. I often supply these things myself but I am also aware that I can not do this forever. My students are capable, wonderful future participating citizens of our world and something like lack of paper should not interfere with daily learning, writing and math.

A few cases of paper and pencils will last us through June and help us complete writing assignments, math and grammar lessons.

Your gift of paper and pencils will help my students reach their full potential. I am striving to create writers, mathematicians and business people of the future. Please help us with the basics for this endeavor.
