I teach reading, writing, and grammar to 6th graders in a high-needs area of rural Mississippi.

My students are in need of books for independent reading time, to use both at school and at home. In particular, I would love for my students to have access to series, and multiple books by the same author. This would be a good opportunity for them to cultivate a love of reading.

Ten of my current students have devoured the three Lemony Snicket books that I have, and have asked me repeatedly if I have the other ten. The same situation has occurred with the two Matt Christopher books that I have, and the one Harry Potter novel. If my students were able to continue reading books by these authors that they love, they would develop a deep love and appreciation for authors, one of the most important things that they could take away from this year.

With your donation to this project, I would be able to provide my students with the books that they keep asking for. I would have the resources to foster the sort of love of books that makes a child wait in line for hours for a new book by their favorite author.
