I teach in a public elementary school in a high-need community. Over 90% of students get free breakfast and lunch.
I have very talented children who are eager to make a difference in our environment. This year my students are determined to make our environment cleaner. The motto in our class is Recycle, Reuse and Reduce! We have been using chart paper during our lessons. Several of my students have been questioning why are we using so much paper. The class thought it would be a great idea to use an easel instead of chart paper which it would help save trees. Since the school only supplies us with chart paper, it contradicts our motto. I would like to model to my students that there are alternatives ways to help save our environment. During our lessons the students will be using dry ease markers on the easel to write instead of chart paper. First graders love to write on easels. Having an easel in the class will eliminate the students fear of making mistakes because it can be easily erased and done again without waisting paper. This will enhance our classroom motto. Your help will ensure that my students will become productive citizens who will be conscious of their environment. I hope you can help make a difference in our children's lives because they are our future. Help us go green! Your donation will help my children and the world. Thank you for your kind heart! My students need an easel with wheels, an easel storage chart and dry erase markers. HIDEMs. B.'s Classroom:
