I am the technology director for a school hospital rehabilitation center. Many of my students suffer from cancer, traumatic brain injury, heart transplants, MS, etc. At the present time I limited resources for my students. The few computers I have are old government surplus which breakdown or crash very easily. My students have suffered a great deal and need access to the Internet in order for them to complete their school work. It is my hope, that first they will recover , but also they will also be able to keep up with their peers in their home school districts. They also should have the right to be able to be in contact with their friends at home on the Internet, like most students do.
The major obstacle I face is that my district is facing severe financial constraints. Compounding this is I have a large case load with very limited resources. I only wish I could provide a laptop to every sick child that needs one to use while at our facility .
I need these laptops to teach my students so that my students can be educated with the help of technology. These students and their families have gone through more pain and agony that one can imagine. These laptops would at least give these ill elementary and high school students a fighting chance at their education. It also might distract them of the pain that they face each and every day.
Please help support this project. These laptops will enhance a child's life from years to come. It will provide them with the social and educational opportunities that most children experience.
