"I am the only math teacher at my school. This means all students are grouped together in the class no matter what their individual learning levels and styles are. We are a small rural school with a high level of poverty.

When we discuss geometric concepts such as reflections, and rotations some of the students are able to grasp the concepts but some of my students have a harder time visualizing it.

By obtaining a classroom set of miras (tools that allow you to reflect an image across a paper), a set of tangrams and a set of mosaics my students will be able to have a concrete model of these concepts. This will also help motivate and engage students.

Your donation will help my students obtain hands on materials that will allow them to obtain a better grasp of these concepts. It is amazing how much of difference it makes when students are able to physically create reflected images or transformations. Thanks ahead of time for your support.

My students need a classroom set of geo-reflector mirrors, a classroom set of tangrams, and a set of mosaics.

Dear Amy, Gary, DonorsChoose.org Birthday Team, Todd, Casey, Teri, Amanda and Anonymous Donors,
When I challenged friends and family to get behind my classroom and make donations in honor of my birthday I never dreamed so many of you would step up. Having the Mira's in my geometry classroom will make the concepts of reflection, rotation and translation so much more ingrained in my students because they will be able to physically create these transformations. This website and the amazing people that donate to needy classrooms through it are amazing.

Thanks to your generosity my students will be able to learn concepts not just from the textbook and lectures but through hands on explorations. This leads to me reaching students that have all different learning styles and abilities. Thank you!!!

With gratitude,
Mrs. S.

Dear Amy, Gary, DonorsChoose.org Birthday Team, Todd, Casey, Teri, Amanda and Anonymous Donors,

The generosity of the donors at this site never ceases to amaze me. Thank you so much for helping my project along. These tools will make my Geometry class so much more hands on and involved next year.

When dealing with students at all levels it is crucial to be able to teach the lesson in ways that will engage all students. Through your generosity I can use the hands on manipulatives to reach students who need more concrete lessons as well as my kinesthetic learners. Thank you so much for providing my students with these tools.

With gratitude,
Mrs. S.
