My students are amazing young adults who have a strong desire to learn. I teach eighth grade Language Arts in a multicultural setting and students read and write everyday, while currently using old dictionaries, or trying to search for vocabulary words on the computer.

My students thrive on looking up words on the computer because the few dictionaries aren't stimulating enough for the technology generation. I want them to be able to hold a dictionary in their hands and discover the wide world of words without the keyboard and screen. Most of my students have no access to dictionaries.

With a class set of dictionaries, I can encourage students to be inquisitive and find out the spelling and meaning of words on their own. Having this set of books will also encourage my lunchtime crew to want to look up words instead of constantly asking me how to spell a word, or what a word means. Having dictionaries will inspire students more then just typing a word into dictionary.com.

Your donation will make it possible for me to inspire students to "Look it up" and feel what it's like to search for information in a colorful book with easy to understand definitions and visuals. Since this set of dictionaries is targeted at students, it will help them to use the words properly.
