Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My students love to learn and they come to school wanting to know more. I want to give them that opportunity with your help. My preschool students are 98% Hispanic and are of high need. They come from low-income families.

We recently received the Tag Reader System and currently only have five different Tag Reader Books. The students have shown a great interest in using the interactive Tag Reader and books and would love to have other books to read and interact with.

This project will help students with their pre-reading skills. Students interact with the book by clicking on a picture or word. This enables them to put print concepts to use; tracking print, knowing that it is a word that is read, and being able to learn new vocabulary. We need ten more Tag books for the students to gain more vocabulary rich activities where they are hearing English being read to them. We are also asking for the interactive fridge magnets for use with our lower students so that they may have hands on learning time with the interactive alphabet magnets. This will provide students with listening to the letter name and the letter sound. This will help the Hispanic students to learn or acquire more English.

Your help will ensure that my students have the opportunity of listening to English books being read to them, since the majority of their parents are not able to read to them in English. This will also help create a love of listening and reading books for my students. When reading is fun kids want to do more of it. Please help me help them to love reading.
