"I teach at an incredible school, full of potential movers and shakers. These great kids come from dire circumstances and are in desperate need of encouragement, guidance, and support. We are a very high-need school that strives to offer a level of education equal to that of a private school. Even though our students (or our school) may not be privileged financially, we are privileged intellectually.
After completing a government-based unit on the novel, "Brave New World," we are launching into the exciting world of economics. Students are in need of another exciting piece of literature to delve into as we study global consumerism and I found the perfect novel! The only problem is: our school (and surrounding schools) do not own a class set of this amazing work of literature.
You can help 40 teenagers, with impressive potential, read a life-changing book. (I'm starting to sound like an infomercial.) Each student will receive a copy of "Feed" to read at home, enriching their economic education and literacy. As my students prepare for college I want to assist them in any way possible: and the best way is encouraging them to read! Reading is the root of all knowledge, the spark that ignites the fire, the key to life. . .
Your help will ensure my students read a novel that not only teaches the ethics of consumerism, but also motivates students to read-a gift that can't be beat!
My students need 40 copies of the book "Feed," by M.T. Anderson.

Dear Cash4Books.net, Joe and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation,
I can't tell you
how much fun we've been having reading "Feed"!Wow- the edgy, intriguing content, and hip lingo really motivates the
students. Students who rarely complete assigned reading and never read for pleasure are completely engrossed in this novel.
We are currently studying consumerism, the impact of technology, and the mortgage/ credit crisis; "Feed" portrays a future that lends insight into these important economic phenomena. When students complete the novel, they will be required to apply their gained knowledge, from the book and other lessons, to a creative expository project that focuses on the impact of technology in the world.
People like you,
who give even in times of economic hardship, are enabling teens to receive the
education they deserve.The
schools that struggle most are those in low- income areas (like our own
school)- our students have less and less class options and resources available
to them. The novel "Feed" allows me to engage students in higher- level thinking that is also accessible.
Again, thank you
so much for your generous donation!
Sincerely,
Bethany N.
With gratitude, Ms. N.

Dear Cash4Books.net, Joe and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation,
Wow! Your generosity is so incredibly appreciated, especially during these difficult times. I can't wait to get my new books -- I know my class will enjoy them. I labored long and hard in finding a novel that would be perfect for my 11th grade humanities class and was delighted when I discovered "Feed," only to be utterly deflated when I learned it was not available through my district.
Your assistance will allow me to share the important message of "Feed" with my students and will provide a much-needed warning against the dangers of over-abundant consumerism.
Again, thank you for funding this class set of "Feed" for us!
Reviewed the project essay and sent follow-up questions if needed.

"These teachers are not wasting money. So many others could get printers and carpet for close to zero dollars. I should know, I am a teacher who got a gift card from my sister. Picture books with lessons, Feed ( Novel ) and Chief Joe are awesome reasons to fund schools."
