Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Today's children are spending more and more of their free time with video game controls and television remotes, rather than playing outside. What I've noticed about my Kindergarteners is that they have really strong thumbs! I want to give them the chance to develop strong bodies as well. For many of my students, the only time they will spend exercising is during the school day. However, as the emphasis at schools becomes more academic, funds for physical education equipment are becoming more and more limited. Please help me provide equipment that my students can use for movement, play and exercise. I am asking for a "Walk-The-Wave" Balance Beam from the Lakeshore Learning Company. This balance beam will help my children build balance and coordination. It is just 4 1/4" off the ground, and has a textured surface that will prevent slipping. It will be very safe to play on. The pieces of the balance beam connect at any angle, so the kindergarteners can walk a straight or winding path. The games the children can play with the balance beam will strengthen their bodies and improve their health in a fun, safe way. This equipment will be stored on our Kindergarten playground, where it could be shared by seven classrooms, with a total of 125+ Kindergarten and Preschool students. The balance beam is durable and will serve hundreds of students in the years to come. By funding this proposal, you will be providing wonderful equipment that will help my Kindergarteners become physically fit!
