Mobile Mac Mini (Computer) On The Move!

My students need a mini mac because we are always working in different places within the school as schedules change. In our public school space is very limited and students and teachers are often on the move to various parts of the building with schedule changes. We still want to work on our projects no matter where we are and this Mac Mini can allow us to do this. A Mac Mini on the Move is a perfect match for the digital age and being 21st century students, this would suit "on the go" learning to maximize productivity regardless of where we are in the building. Apple thought of that and we hope we can put this clever mobile machine to work for our students.

I am a NYC public school teacher whose fifth grade students come from all over the world. Our diversity is our wealth and although we serve a high needs area, our students are motivated and eager learners. Our school is Title I free lunch eligible but our international nature brings a richness to our community that is intangible in what it contributes to our learning environment.

Although these students are only 10 years old, they are tech savvy and understand the need to stay current in a digital world. The fact that family members are all over the world emphasizes the importance of technology and communication in a global community. Costs of acquiring technology are prohibitive for this high needs population and so it falls to education to bridge the gap and prepare our students to participate successfully in a market of vision and ideas. What is financially out of reach can be bridged through public education as it offers the skills and enhanced learning to make our children competitive, no matter what their socioeconomic status may be.

Apple's mini mac is an incredible innovation that brings portability and access through technology to develop student work in any content area. The fact that we are in a building that is over 100 years old (although it has been renovated for wireless connectivity) speaks to the limits of the kinds of spaces available. We're always on the move in an auditorium a cafeteria that also serves as our gym facility, and shared spaces by educators and students alike. The mini mac would go far to allow us to move projects forward despite our many moves around the building. It's a technology made smaller in recognition of a digital world on the move and we hope to be able to harness that very innovation.

In the auditorium/cafeteria/gym (same place assuming multiple roles) my students would be able to keep working if an Apple Mini Mac was funded. Mobility and access to move learning forward are part of this technology's vision and imagine if my students got the message that they deserved such a powerful yet tiny machine to become as competitive as more affluent counterparts. Geographic limitations would no longer be an obstacle to completion of work, and they would feel they, too, deserve to learn using the best resources available made possible through public education.
