I teach at a Title I school, where many of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch. I teach Pre-K in a 3 year old program for children of active military families that are stationed at the air force base nearby. The program is in its third year, and is thriving. We have 3 classrooms with six sections, two of which are special ed inclusion. My 32 students are full of life, full of energy, and keep me running-literally!

My students share a playground with the other 2 three-year-old classes in addition to 6 classes of four-year-olds. Our small playground is in need of updating due to the wear and tear of 200 student's daily use. This year, my students have fallen in love with one lone scooter. They no longer fight over the scooter, but now resort to sitting along the building wall, patiently waiting their turn. While this is an EXCELLENT way for students to learn patience, over half of the 45 students on the playground are spending their recess time waiting for their turn on the scooter.

If my students had additional scooters they would still be able to share and take more turns. Do you remember what it feels like to have the wind in your hair as you soared by your friends, one leg kicked out behind you? I desperately want to give my students this feeling, but I can't do it without your help.

Your donation will make it possible for my students (and 168 additional students) to feel like they're flying. There is no greater gift than to witness a child's smile as they wizz by you, unstoppable and larger than life.
