I am a resource and reading intervention teacher at a high school in South Carolina. I work with ninth and tenth grade students. Currently, I am implementing a reading intervention program with my students who have learning disabilities in reading and writing. As part of this program, students participate in an independent reading time with books and novels written within their appropriate reading and Lexile level. My students need the opportunity to JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER! Students who are NOT interested in reading need to be motivated and inspired by the cover of a book. Right now, all of our classroom books and novels are stacked in a crate, with only the book bind visible. I need YOUR help to inspire my students to read! With YOUR donation, I could provide an inspiring way to display our classroom books and novels - with the covers facing out! Think of your typical grocery store, all of the items for sale are facing out, to inspire and motivate the consumer to purchase each item. Students who are reluctant to read need this same type of motivation. The covers of our books and novels need to be visible in my classroom. Allow my students to JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER in an attempt to motivate and inspire them to read! My students and I thank you for considering this proposal!
