I service students with many handicapping conditions. Our school budget is very small this year and I was not able to request my item. My students would benefit from being recorded by camcorder because it would offer them a chance to see and hear how they interact with other students. This in turn will help them make changes they need to be more effective communicators in their community.

My students were motivated this year to do some public speaking. They actually performed on stage with microphones. They would have been really excited to have seen their performance later. Often my students have such short term memory issues that it is hard for them to remember what they have said or how it was stated. Having a camera to record and provide immediate feedback would be so helpful. I also would like to record social role playing for my autistic students so they can have peer models to watch while learning new social skills.

My students like to already hear themselves by tape recorder. By having a video recorder they will be even more motivated to make changes in their expressive language. The immediate feedback they will get from being recorded will be extremely powerful.

Your help will make a difference because it will be possible for my students to make quick improvements which will improve their self-confidence and further motivate them to learn and become involved citizens.
